To kick off our 2025 season, we're collaborating with Hyde Park Picture House to bring you a fantastic LGBT+ history month event.

1:00pm: Oral histories project 

Because it's our 20th anniversary this year, we'll be recording some oral histories to share at our main festival in March. If you've got a memory of LQFF to share, please turn up early so you can tell us about it! 
 

2:30pm: BECAUSE OF YOU: A History of Kilawin Kolektibo (34m)

This hybrid experimental documentary traces the history of Kilawin Kolektibo, a pioneering collective of Filipnxs who came together in NYC in the mid-nineties. 

 

Content notes: 

⛈️: racism, homophobia, transphobia

☀️: dyke community, queer history
 

3:00pm: Striking with Pride: United at the Coalface (1hr15m)

Welsh Drag icon Tayce shares the story of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners to a group of kids during a drag story hour. Whether you know the story of LGSM or not, you won't want to miss this new telling of it!

Content notes: 

⛈️: Images of riots, police violence, and strike busting. Discussion of homophobia and HIV/AIDS

☀️: Solidarity between queer and mining communities; kids being awesome
