Saturday 5th March 2016 – 11am til 3pm
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s achievements. Leeds City Museum is proud to be hosting a diverse range of women’s groups and organisations and everyone is welcome to come along and get involved.
Try your hand at making a Zine in a Day, badge making or book making. Anyone can contribute to the zine and we will have copies to take away by the end of the day. You don’t need to be a great artist or writer and we’d love contributions from all ages. The activities will run throughout the day and are free to participate in, with no prior booking needed.
There’ll be a number of exciting presentations throughout the day, including a talk, film screenings and a Q&A from the women’s film co-op, Leeds Animation Workshop.
You can also watch diverse and thought-provoking films curated by Leeds Queer Film Festival. LQFF are putting together a program of films which includes some inspiring and moving documentaries from around the world, as well as some rarely seen short films. Free tea and coffee will be available during the film screening intervals.
There’ll also be different stalls to browse run by artists, organisations and campaigning groups. Lots of local groups have been invited to take over the main Broderick Hall to show everyone all the amazing work that is being done by women and girls in Leeds. From crafts to campaigning groups, health matters to artists there’s sure to be something of interest.
Everyone welcome – free entry.
